St. Joseph’s Parish Council Meeting

Attending: Fr. David McGuinness, Jim Altmiller, Louise Benjamin, Barbara Bremus, Michael Brock, Charlie Broussard, June Compton, Susan Gearhart, Maggie Glassman, Chet Malanoski, Carolyn McFall, Dana Moody, Margarita Tejeda,

I. Opening Prayer: Fr. David McGuinness

II November 2003 meeting minutes approved.

III. Old Business:

    1. By-Laws: revisions discussed, accepted
    2. Elections:
      1. Nominating Committee volunteers: Maggie Glassman, Dana Moody, Charlie Broussard, and Sue Gearhart
      2. Nominations will be open for parishioner input from January 24th/25th through February 16th. Elections scheduled for April 17th/18th.
      3. Eight names are being sought to fill 4 positions, list to be finalized at Parish Council meeting on March 15. Discussion on changing age requirement from 21 to 18; decision to continue with age 21 as By-Laws state. Nominating Committee to handle details of election (nominee’s bios, poster, ballots, etc)

IV. Reports, Boards, Standing Committees (Finance, Liturgy/Pastoral, Building, Stewardship): discussion on how to make info from committees more available for Parish Council meetings

    1. Finance Committee: current members – Micky Hotcaveg, Tom Rocks, Don Ragogna, and Mike Killeen will include council member Jim Altmiller.
    2. Liturgy Committee (new): headed by Deacon Jim Gaudin, will include council members Barbara Bremus and Carolyn McFall.
    3. Building Committee: current member Mike Brock (Maintenance Committee should be a sub-committee of Building Committee, will include council member Charlie Broussard).
    4. Stewardship Committee: current members Mike Brock, Barbara Bremus, and Margarita Tejeda (Welcome Committee is a sub-committee of Stewardship Committee, current members Barbara Bremus, Margarita Tejeda).
    5. Communication Committee (new): will include Louise Benjamin

V New Business:

    1. Fr. McGuiness – programs and changes discussed
      1. Parish Mission
      2. Neighborhood Masses
      3. Liturgy
      4. Lent
      5. Social Events
      6. Office spaces rearranged, second conference room now available
    2. Announcements and Calendar
      1. Eucharistic Conference in Atlanta June 12th
      2. Gift Shop open one weekend per month (need more workers)
      3. Women’s Council Lenten Day of Reflection open to men and women, February 28th.
      4. Next Parish Council meetings: February 9th (2nd Monday), March 15th ( 3rd Monday)
