Fr. McGuinness opened the meeting with a prayer.
Minutes of the October Parish Council meeting not available at this time.
Committee Reports:
Planning: June Compton reported that investigation committees had been formed for pricing each of Parish’s Renovation, Relocation or Rebuilding strategies. Plans are to present information to the parish in March to make a decision about our future. Next Planning Committee meeting: Thursday, Nov. 18.
Maintenance: Todd Story reported that the damaged wall to the rear of the church would be removed and a new one constructed this week.
Communication: Pete Konenkamp reported that the St. Joseph website is getting 500 hits a month.
Liturgy: An Advent Penance Service is planned for the parish for December 1.
Old Business:
Nursery Update: Todd Story will ask Tom Rocks, Office Manager since November 1, to arrange for the parents who volunteer in the nursery to file an Archdiocesan parent volunteer security form.
Safety/Security: Pete Konenkamp reported that the security cameras are installed but all are not located in positions that record all the desired locations. He will ask Ackerman to relocate these. Tree branches that interfere with observation need to be trimmed and acquiring better lighting will maximize the effectiveness of the security cameras in place. Some of the Georgia Power lights in the parking lot are not working consistently. The parish council authorized the additional expense for an office operated intercom with lock release to the front door to coincide with the secretary’s monitor of the front entrance.
Housing Search: The search continues for suitable housing for the priests.
Second Sunday Social: Organizations or ministries are invited to sponsor St. Joseph’s Second Sunday Socials. Dana Moody is the SSS contact person.
Stephen’s Ministry: St. Joseph received an anonymous donation of $1,000 for Stephen’s Ministry. Barbara Bremus will attend the next Leadership Training and would like another parishioner to join her.
Parish Christmas Party: Off site locations are too expensive for the whole of the parish so that Marty Ledenham and Sue Gearhart plan contact with the Knights of Columbus for a Christmas party in the Parish Hall where seasonal treats can be shared.
New Business:
School Administration: The Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters have been permanently re-assigned and will no longer be available to run our school. At the request of the Parish Council, Pete Konenkamp will write a letter to Sister Rose Marie DeCarlo, IHM General Superior to respectfully request our sisters be given an extension until 2006 for the students’ sake when our parish will no longer be making other important decisions.
Announcements: CRHP, Christ Renews His Parish, is scheduled for men, December 11-12, and for women, January 8-9. Thirty-six applicants can be accommodated each session and spaces are filling up rapidly.
There are three applicants so far to head up the Capital Campaign Drive and help select a fund raising firm for our parish strategy.
A pilgrimage to visit the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, AL is planned for February 16, 2006.
Adjournment: Fr. McGuinness closed with prayer.
The next Parish Council meeting will be on December 12th.
