ST. JOSEPH’S PARISH COUNCIL MINUTES

CALLED MEETING MARCH 2,2007

Attending: Charles Dolan, Pete Konenkamp, Monica Kucher Mueller, Marty Ledenham, Rosemary Risse, Evelyn Tejada, Hank Wright, Father Jacques Fabre and Father David McGuinness.

Excused Absences: John Benca, Todd Story and Terry Trotochaud

Father David opened the meeting with the prayer, ‘Building Our Parish’.

Father announced that there has been a closing on the contract for the 35 acres on Epps Bridge Parkway. He said that we would continue to pursue the purchase of the additional 10 acres adjacent to our newly purchased lot. Pete said that a celebratory social after each mass this weekend will be served by CRHP members organized by CRHP 5. Pete then distributed copies of the press release which will go out this coming Monday. Jim Brawley has the list of all the newspapers that we will contact.

Father said that our first plan of action is to erect a St. Joseph’s sign on the property. Later there will be a contract for the site development. Father wants the steering committee to be refocused and deal with the building plans. He distributed a statement of financial support for the six-month period of 8/06 through 12/06, which included all revenue and expenses as well as the annual figures for the total annual assessment, the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal and the Annual Archdiocesan Support. He said that our present status with a strong tithing base and managed expenses has allowed a good position from which to bid on the additional 10 acres. He added that we have achieved greater than 95% of our three-year goal with the Capital Campaign and this should be given an extra boost with the property purchase. Pete reported that the largest group of supporters has been the school families that are members of the parish with 61% of the campaign pledges. Father is encouraged with the path of unity that has been recognized throughout this project. On this note Max suggested community masses and prayers for continued growth. She also announced that a group of parents called ‘Parents in the Parish’ are working together to further nurture our entire parish community.

Pete will now pursue agreements with the neighborhood as well as with the River Basin

Center at UGA.

The meeting was ended with congratulations and a prayer of thanksgiving.

Pete announced that the next meeting will be as planned on March 11th at 7:30pm.
