Linda Bell has agreed to try to come up with a logo for the church to be used on all correspondence, letterhead, magnets, etc.
Two signs that read Future Home of St. Joseph Parish have been completed; however, the permit office has indicated that the sign needs to be put up in conjunction with construction.
Charles reported that the Property ad hock Committee has started to get prices for putting up gates on the property when Mr. Daniels vacates the property. He also reported that David has looked at the property behind the barn and there is a lot of pvc piping and metal and it may take 100-150 cans (20-30 cubic yards) to remove the materials. Still a work in progress.
Maxine is getting ready to follow up on the welcoming packet as father has oked it.
Finance Committee: Terry reported that the need for an office manager is being looked into more. We need to get permission from the Archdiocese to get a full time person and then they have to approve of that individual.
Communication Committee:
Again, Linda Bell is working on a logo.
As far as the website goes we need the move the domain name or change the domain name. It is difficult at this time as the person who set up the domain name as the registrant has left and no one can find the authorization codes to access the domain. We need a new server with more flexibility. Don Norris has a separate computer set up for Parish e-mail. It currently is not being used. They are also considering a web cam in church for those unable to attend mass.
In the finance area
--Father not too happy about this appeal; for example our school gets $50,000 for tuition assistance and St. Thomas Moore in Decatur has 400 students and gets $120,000 for tuition assistance.
During the retreat may be a good time to discuss how we can deal with the appeal.
Our percentage of giving is based on 05-06 figures for offertory; it is not taking into account the building fund and religious education fund. A new financial officer, previously from Coca Cola will be looking into finances at the Archdiocese.
Father has a meeting with the CFO on July 19 to bring up the

There is an Annual
Fund Drive meeting of all the parishes with the Archbishop in
--comparing % assessment by brackets in our arch dioceses to other archdioceses
--the history of the brackets increased
--the number of Archdioceses staff (is it public information—do they need all the staff?)
--feel the Archdioceses expenses are going up too fast from our perspective and try to show that their budget/assessment is growing faster than inflation
--money can be used more effectively at our local level
The new CFO wants to form a new committee for Annual Appeal to speak to the Archbishop; it was questioned as to what forum will be used and what we have to do to satisfy the bureaucracy

We need to prioritize items for discussion and then have a work plan. If anyone has any topics please e-mail Ed and let him know. Some ideas thrown out again:
A. Needs for Parish:
B.Items brought up by parishioners at capital campaign meetings.
C. Make sure we are fulfilling our role as Parish Council
D. Vision for the future-- 5, 10, 20 year plan
Items Father views as priority:
Father would like Tom Rocks as office manager and hire someone else to do the books; needs Archdiocese approval
Nancy Hobart has been hired to work 15 hours/week
The meeting ended with a prayer and adjourned at
