1. Pete started discussion about the House located on new
property. It appears that someone has
been inside the house. Concerned about
liability if someone gets hurt. Suggest
the house be demolished. Conversation
continued into the need for a building committee.
2. Ed Fechtel made a motion that
the President appoint an Ad Hoc Committee of the Council to (1) visit the
property and determine the nature and extent of clean up activities that should begin
as soon as possible, (2) prepare a document defining the scope of the work to
be accomplished, (3) seek prices from qualified contractors to perform the
work, and (4) submit the project for approval of the Pastor to award a contract.
3. Officers were elected (all attended were in favor):
Maxine Guerrera – Secretary
Frank Milward – Vice President
Ed Fectel – President
4. Pete gave the council a farewell address. Recommended that the new council’s first
priority should be to ensure that a building committee is put in place. Further suggested that a business manager
should be put in place as soon as possible.
5. Pete found an
envelope dated back from 12/21/79 from a suit inside the house on the
property. $150.00 was inside the
envelope and donated to the capital campaign.
6. Ed Fechtel suggest that the Council adopt the
following resolution: The Saint Joseph Parish Council ,on behalf of Saint
Joseph Parish, extends its deepest appreciation to Pete Konenkamp for his hard
work and exemplary leadership of the Council for the past year as its
President.
7. Ed
appointed John Benca, Charles Dolan, and Berti Lopez to form the committee to
form an Ad Hoc Committee of the Council to carry out the
resolution of the Council with regard to the
property.
8. Parish retreat has
been set up for August 26th 9am – 4pm in the rectory.
9. It was agreed that
council would continue to meet the second Sunday of every month. (Except August – meeting will be at the
retreat).
10. Frank reported on Capital campaign – committee has been
working with different ministries.
Moving toward pledge campaign.
Suggest Capital campaign work with finance for a public plan. Reinstate figures to the parish.
11. Terry reported on Finance – Have interviewed candidates
for the business manager position. Several were good candidates. Need to know
where we stand on the candidates. Church
building fund and school building fund will now fall into the parish.
12. Ed reported on communication – Currently working on web
site controls. New logo design, magnet
with mass times, and ministry directory almost finished.
13. Evelyn reported on Hispanic – Have been working on
Hispanic Goals to present to father.
Will meet with him when he returns.
Have concerns about key change.
It is hard to use the facilities to meet for ministry. Monica shared the new procedures for getting
the keys. Keys need to be signed out and
a sheet must be filled out to ensure proper use of the facilities.
14. Monica reported
on School – New principle has been hired Mr. Donavan Yarnell.
15. Maxine reported on Welcoming – Asked Ed for help to get
Father to sign off on the new parishioner packet. Also suggested that a committee be put in
place. Ed said they are working on a way
to register online. Max stressed a
concern about the new parishioner list and how it is being treated. Many are registering with parish so that they
can receive sacraments, but are not supporting the parish. This becomes a financial liability if they
are registered.
Father Jacques closed with a prayer.
