Parish Council Minutes
October 14, 2007
Attendance: Father Jacques, Father David, Ed Fechtel, Frank Milward, Maxine Guerrera, Berti Lopez, David Gomez, John Timmons, Hank Wright, Evelyn Tejadas, Terry Trotochaud, Monica Muller
Excused: Charles Dolan, John Benca
1 The meeting was opened with a Prayer.
2.The minutes were approved by all.
3. Tim Janke, Finance Committee gave presentation on Parish Finances.
- Overview Report every 6 months to the Parish
- 5% increase after 2008
- 10% increase 2009 – 2010
- Need a full time financial manager
- Interviews have been held for Development director
4. The current Epps Bridge Parkway site plan was presented to the Council.
6. Informal memorandum of understanding with Holly Hills was approved.
- Discuss that we have already worked enough with the association
- Both Monica and Max had concerns about new demands from Holy Hill
7. Report of the Nursery Committee for recommendation
In the absence of the Council Member representing this project, this item was tabled until the next meeting.
8. Zoning Approval for 46 acres on Epps Bridge Pkwy
The sequence of events was discussed: Planning Committee then full County Commission approval on December 4th
The following was recommended:
. Contact Athens-Clarke Council members prior to November 1st, 2007
. Check feeling of the staff of Planning Commission
. Contact Tanglebrook residents
9. Capital Campaign Report
The important elements of the Capital Campaign are the following:
. Total pledges and one time gifts: $2.8 million
. Approximately $200.000 are pledges that have seen no activity
Actions:
. Contact outstanding pledges to retire, restate or collect
. Prepare update of Foundation Phase:
. Targets: New parishioners, School parents, Parishioners who have not pledged, One time gifts, School Alumni
. Update brochure and FAQ to have substantial material for communication.
10. Council Committees
Hospitality: Report at November meeting; Volunteers requested; recommendation to include social events in calendar
Unity: This commission is finding a time to meet
11. Ministry representatives
Liturgy: The PA system needs repairing
12. Council Nomination Committee
Charles Dolan will chair the Council 2008 Elections Committee
13. Other Business
Mgr Donovan High School has “adopted” the frontage highway of the new property and will take responsibility for clean-up
