Each woman of our parish is conisdered to be a member of St. Joseph's Women's Council, and each is invited and encouraged to participate in our regular meetings and special events.

SJWC is affiliated with the Atlanta Archiocesan Council of Catholic Women (AACCW) and the National Council of Catholic Women (NCCW).

We meet the first Thursday of the month, from September to May, in the school library (except Dec 14, Tuesday, for our Christmas dinner/party). We begin with refreshments at 6:45 pm, followed by a program /speaker and then the business meeting.

SJWC supports several ministries:

St. Joseph's Charities by conducting a Christmas auction to assist their Giving Tree Program, and donating cans of soup to the food pantry, following the Lenten day of reflection.
The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, forming a parish team and hosting a parish supper and Bingo night in May, and other fundraisers
Better Infant Births, and local crisis pregnancies, by collecting layette items for babies on Mother's Day
Central State Hospital in Milledgeville, by collecting clothing, personal care items and gifts and hosting a Valentine party for the residents who are suffering from mental illness and mental retardation. This year, extra items were also distributed to St. Joseph's Charities, St. Joseph's Young-at-Heart senior citizens group, the Athens Attention Home, the Athens Area Homeless Shelter, Catholic Social Services, Mercy Health Clinic, and Project Safe
The Madonna Plan, a "Works of Peace" program of the NCCW in cooperation with Catholic Relief Services, supporting women, children, and families in third world countries

In addition to the above, SJWC also

holds a Lenten Day of reflection for the parish
periodically organizes suppers for visiting priests, the reception for new Catholics after the Easter Vigil Mass, and other social gatherings for the parish
hosts a parish Mexican supper to raise operating funds for our various projects
operates the parish Gift Shop, profits assisting our priests and other projects
co-hosts a St. Patrick's Day party for parishoners, in conjunction with the Knights of Columbus

Joining SJWC is a great way to meet new friends, strengthen current relationships and contribute to worthwhile charitable endeavors on the parish, community, national, and international levels.
